I Nephi having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father, and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days, yea having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God, therefore I make a record of my proceedings in my days. Nephi 1:1
Today I started reading the Book of Mormon again. Yesterday, I finished it. I'm not sure how many times I've read this book that was restored and translated through the prophet Joseph Smith, but it has been quite a few times. Yet, each time I begin again I reflect on the blessing that the Book of Mormon has been in my life. The first verse always reminds me how blessed I have been with good parents who loved me and taught me. It was their acceptance of the gospel truths and my dad's baptism that helped put me on the covenant path. I truly was born of goodly parents.
My mom's family celebrated a family reunion last week and many great pictures were shared on Facebook. Several cousins spoke of the impacts the Warner family had on their lives. I enjoyed the reunion through pictures and words posted on social media. Here's one of the pictures they shared.
L-R Maryann Warner Patten, Shirley Warner Gailey, Karlene Biggelow Warner(sister-in-law),
Connie Warner Horsepool, Janice Warner LeRohl.
These sweet sisters are all that's left of Clyde and Margaret Amelia Warner's 9 children, (8 daughters & 1 son)
I love them all! I reflect on my ancestors and cherish my posterity as we are all one big family. My husband and children and grandchildren are my everything! I have a family here on earth they are so good to me! I want to share my life with them through all eternity.
Now, back to Leeds England and our mission experiences. The weather has been lovely...not too hot and not too cold...just perfect. We've grown close to the sister leader missionaries that are living with us. They are sweet and such good missionaries. Sister Richards meets her parents in three days to return home via a short tour of England. Sister Barns will be transferred to South Yorkshire. She will continue as a sister leader missionary. Many other changes took place in our zone. So, we'll say good-bye to some and hello to the new transfers.
L-R Sister Barnes & Sister Richards
The last couple of weeks have been full.
- We witnessed the marriage and baptism of Simon & Sharon. Another week witnessed Simeon's baptism. He's from Africa.
- We helped prepare treats for the musical fireside put on by missionaries in our zone. It was broadcast through Facebook to the entire mission.....Lot's of talent around us.
- Our ward mission leader ate dinner with us at our home. He presented the ward mission plan. He talks fast in his European accent. We had to listen close.
- Held FHE and had great lessons...one from Pete & I...one from Katie our friend from Scotland. We asked the YSA to help update our records.
- We did several flat inspections and got to know more elders and sisters here.
- Helped a couple guest chef's cook their meals
- Counseled with a sister in our district who unfortunately is contemplating going home. (we mostly listen and give encouragement. She seems to really like us and asks for us to stop by on occasion. We're glad to give her hugs and support!)
- Pete taught the lesson, the Parable of the Sower. He did great
- I taught family history class...every week is a different experience...small group...it's individual support
- Enjoyed Kung Pao Chicken prepared by the Chinese sister in our district.
- Pete ventured to a different salon for a haircut...same price...not quite as good as the last one.
- went to meetings with the YSA & stake members, district councils, and institute meetings
- sat in several lessons with friends being taught by the sisters and elders
- visited different wards in our stake then visited YSA we hadn't met yet.
- had a lovely visit from our niece, Nicole...had fun being a tourist with her...visited sites in Leeds, Harrogate, Ripley, and York. We felt blessed to have family visit.
- A senior sister took a fall and chipped out her front tooth and and knocked to the side another tooth. We picked her up from the hospital & took her home.....needs to see an oral surgeon. She also had several stitches.
